Kyra Bonasia, BSc, MA, PhD - Student Intern
Kyra Bonasia is a medical student at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Before coming to Dartmouth, Kyra studied Neuroscience at McGill and received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She became interested in the Finding the Value Project because of its focus on patient engagement - she believes this project has the potential to substantially improve the ability of patients to recall and understand their health information, supporting them in confidently managing their health and health-care decisions. Kyra has performed research on the the neural bases of memory, the quality of women’s reproductive healthcare in Northern Ontario, and on decision analysis & patient-centered decision making during pregnancy. All of these experiences have helped Kyra gain an appreciation for the complexity patients often face when managing their health. She hopes the skills and knowledge she’s gaining in working with the Finding the Value project will help her to better engage with her future patients to deliver high quality healthcare consistent with their values and needs.
